Huilerie Vernoilaise Walnut Oil has a nutty flavor that is ideal for flavoring fish and steaks, used on pasta, salad dressings, and for adding a little extra flair to some desserts. Walnut Oil by Huilerie Vernoilaise also pairs well with raspberry and wine vinegars. When Walnut Oil is cooked its flavor can turn slightly bitter, so it should be used uncooked whenever possible.Producer Spotlight
Huilerie Vernoilaise, formerly Huilerie Lorieux, was founded in 1946 at the end of WW2 by Mr. Clément Lorieux. At the time, the small business supplied the surrounding region with rapeseed, sunflowers, and nuts. During the 1970s, Huilerie Vernoilaise started diversifying, establishing their brand line “Power Fishing,” and developing a range of organic virgin oils in the 1980s when Mr. James Lorieux stepped up and inherited the business from his father. In 2007 Mr. François-Louis Delepoulle, at the age of 23, joined James Lorieux and infused the company with a unique dynamism thanks to his taste for challenge and passion for oils. Together, they diversified the company further, developing more unique and varied oils, modernizing the brand, and bringing the company into a new tier of success with the resulting improved sales.
With generations of knowledge and techniques from oil masters, Huilerie Vernoilaise has preserved and mastered the traditional process of virgin oil production, from grinding, cooking, and extraction, to decantation and filtration. Huilerie Vernoilaise is so dedicated to the ancestral character of virgin oil production that it even makes use of a century-old cast iron vertical press in the extraction process. With their expertise, passion, and wisdom, Huilerie Vernoilaise works every day to deliver exquisite oils of quality, providing customers with what they call “The essential excellence”.
