Producer Spotlight
Citterio was founded in 1870 by Giuseppe Citterio in Rho, Itall. He created his own recipe for producing and preserving pork in the hope that Italians immigrating could enjoy the flavors of Italy in their new homelands. In 1878, he purchased a piece of land on the outskirts of Rho, Italy to build a factory. By the 1890’s, he had won multiple awards for the attention to detail and care he put into the preparation of his products. During the 1900s, Citterio focused even more on growth and research, inventing and producing the first vacuum-packaged products in 1958 and opening its first factory in the United States in 1974. To this day, Citterio remains a family-run business directly managed by the descendents of Giuseppe Citterio, with a focus on quality products, traditional flavors, and innovation that has been present in the company since day one.
