Mondariz

The company Mondariz makes use of water from the Spanish municipality of Mondariz in the province of Pontevedra, Spain. This water initially rose in popularity in the 19th century due to Mr. Domingo Blanco Lage, a physician from Mondariz who observed the water’s health benefits and began using it to cure the skin ailments of his patients. The company of Mondariz was founded by Mr. Enrique Peinador Velta and his family, who established a bottling plant for the mineral water in 1877 after the Mondariz water had been declared safe for public use in 1873. Over time Mondariz became one of the most important hydrotherapy centers of Spain, with the Spanish Royal Family making use of the waters for centuries. In addition to the water’s popularity with the Spanish Royal Family, the company of Mondariz has received many accolades showcasing the quality of its water, including two Diamond Taste Awards, six consecutive years of the Superior Taste Award, and two Crystal Taste Awards.
